Outdoor activities – The Murray

The Murray River winds its way through the heart of the region, providing endless opportunities for water activities. Spend relaxing days exploring the river in a houseboat, take a ride in an historic paddle steamer or explore the reserves and wetlands in a canoe. Find a secluded spot on a river beaches to soak up some sun and enjoy a relaxing picnic or a spot of fishing. If you after something a bit more strenuous, strap on some waterskis or join a white water rafting adventure. There are also a number of excellent riverside golf courses where you can tee off surrounded by beautiful natural bushland and stunning river views.

Beyond the lush green riverbank stretches the Australian outback. Explore the rugged terrain on foot or join a 4WD or four-wheel motorbike tour. If you have the time and inclination to sleep under the stars, set up camp in the wilderness. And if you’d rather see this stunning scenery from the air, take to the skies in a hot air balloon or a joy flight in a light aircraft.
